Accessibility statement

We want everyone to be able to use this site, including people with disabilities. This statement describes what we have done, what is not yet fully accessible, and how to reach us.

The standard we follow

The site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA. This covers the Israeli standard IS 5568 (based on WCAG 2.0, level AA), required by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013, and is the level referenced by the European standard EN 301 549.

What we have done

• Every page has a language, a title, a clear heading structure, and a “Skip to content” link as the first stop for keyboard users.
• Everything can be used with a keyboard, and the element in focus is always clearly outlined.
• Text meets the WCAG contrast ratios (4.5:1, or 3:1 for large text). Decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers; images that carry meaning have text alternatives.
• Form fields have labels, and buttons and links have names that describe what they do.
• Every moving part can be stopped: the Pause button on the step-by-step section, and Stop animations in the accessibility menu, which stops all motion on every page and is remembered. The page layout adapts to phones, tablets and zoom up to 200%.
• An accessibility menu on every page (the blue Accessibility button at the bottom left, or Alt+A from the keyboard): three text sizes, high contrast, light background, monochrome, readable font, text spacing, highlighted links, highlighted headings, a big cursor and stopping animations. Your choices are kept in your browser only.
• We check every page with axe-core (the open-source accessibility engine used by most audit tools) against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A and AA rules, and with a screen-reader simulation (Guidepup Virtual Screen Reader) that reads each page item by item, and with Orca, the open-source screen reader for Linux, which reads every page aloud in Chromium: its paragraphs, headings, landmarks, links, form fields and images. We also test keyboard-only use and phone and desktop layouts. These tests run in Chromium; the site uses standard web technology supported by current Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.

What is not yet fully accessible

• The opening animation on the home page, an invisible mark revealed by the pointer, is visual only. Its meaning is stated in text next to it. It holds still when you choose Stop animations in the accessibility menu (Alt+A).
• The demo’s image analysis (outlines drawn over a photo, the photo’s shape, the tamper maps) is visual by nature. Every result is also given in text: the owner, whether the copy is an exact match, each area that did not match, and every measurement.
• Charts on the home page show values that are also written out next to them.
• The research paper is published three ways: the typeset PDF, an accessible web version (mathematics readable by screen readers, every figure described) and a tagged PDF. The typeset PDF itself is not tagged; please use either accessible version.
